It means someone who has been brought up well, is educated, and whose behaviour is exemplary at all times. We can all remember being intrigued by a well-bred lady/girl because we remember them all for the right reasons, especially their self-awareness.
No matter what our background, age, history, or nationality, it's never too late to take on the characteristics of a lady who is well-mannered and genteel. To be genteel means to be part of a polite society.
If you think about our society today, people are angry, aggressive, selfish, unkind, they bully and lie their way through life. The more ladies who take responsibilty for their lives, for what happens to them and for their personal conduct, the more of an example they will be to others.
